The hidden city of Orchha

March 10, 2019
A passage of Raja Mahal, Orchha

India is definitely not short on famous cities, sights, and attractions. Almost anyone can name at least a few, from the Ghats of Varanasi to the Taj Mahal in Agra. Orchha, however, is a modest small town in the middle of Uttar Pradesh, the most populated area of the country. This city of barely 8,000 people might not be on the itinerary of most travelers, but it’s definitely worth the visit. Palaces, temples, sanctuaries… you name it!

How to spend a day in Battambang, Cambodia

June 17, 2018
Battambang Wat Banan Entrance

The city of Battambang, in the northwest of Cambodia, is not often visited by tourists. Most of them will only spend a day there, probably on their way to Siam Reap. However, being short on time doesn’t mean you can’t explore the city at its full potential! Rides, new and ancient temples, nature, and the tragic past of the country, everything in a day in Battambang.

For almost a decade Dorothy, the owner of the centre, and her family have taken care and reintroduced into the wildness all kind of animals. I was pleasantly surprised when I visited it, and it was a unique chance to interact with amazing animals.

Persepolis, the Legacy of the Persian Kings

February 27, 2018
Persepolis Carvings

Persepolis, or Parsa in its original Persian name, is one of Iran’s jewels, a city once capital of the world’s largest empire, a place that brings visitors back in time, to the time when the ancient Persian kings were the lords of everything, richer and more powerful than any other man on the planet. Today the city is famous, ironically, for its destruction by Alexander the Great during his conquest of Persia.

The Prince Islands and Saint George’s Day

Horse carriages in the Prince Islands

Very close to Istanbul, just 25 kilometers southeast there is a group of islands known as the Prince Islands, which we decided to go to on our last day in the city. The trip is quiet and relaxed, and lasts about an hour and a half before arriving at Büyükada, the main island.
